Dr. Tsypylma Darieva is anthropologist with major areas of research and teaching in migration, transnational mobility, diasporic cosmopolitanism, post-socialist urbanism and sacred spaces in South Caucasus, Central Asia and Europe. She has conducted field works in Germany, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.
Currently she is coordinator of the international research project ‘Transformation of Sacred Spaces and Concepts of Hybridity in the Caucasus’ at Friedrich-Schiller University of Jena. Before she joined University of Jena, she was Associate Professor of Anthropology at the Department of International Area Studies at the University of Tsukuba, Japan.
